What is the purpose of the Personal Information Act (PoPIA or POPI Act )?
The purpose of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) is to protect people from any harm by protecting their personal information and privacy. This Act governs the way in which we handle the personal information that we collect from you.
What is our privacy policy?
At J316 Services (Pty) Ltd, we are committed to protecting your privacy and to ensure that your personal information is used properly, lawfully and transparently.
We secure the integrity and confidentiality of personal information in our possession or under our control by taking appropriate, reasonable, technical and organisational measures to prevent loss of, damage to, or unauthorised destruction of personal information, and unlawful access to or processing of personal information.
Why do we need your personal information?
We collect your personal information mainly to contact you, either in person or by mail or electronic communication, for the purposes of promoting or understanding your requirements, and delivering services accordingly.
At times, you may be required to verify your identity or to verify that you are an authorised user for security purposes.
Any additional personal information required will be in accordance for the purpose for which it was collected or for any reason from the data subject.
What information do we need?
Generally, we collect your contact details (business physical address, email address and phone numbers), your name and organisation.
Where you provide us with your personal details, we collect information directly from you. Where possible, we will inform you what information you are required to provide to us and what information is optional.
When can we disclose your personal information?
Where we have a legal or contractual duty or a right to disclose in terms of law.
When necessary, we may disclose your personal information to our service providers for the purpose of delivery of goods or services to you. In either case, we will only disclose the relevant information or seek your permission.
What is our retention and restriction of your records?
Records of personal information are not retained for longer periods than is necessary for achieving the purpose for which the information was collected.
J316 Services will destroy or permanently delete a record of personal information as soon as it is reasonably practical once it has no further authority to retain a record for a further period.
The deletion of a record of personal information will be processed in a manner that prevents its reconstruction in an intelligible/understandable form.
